Suffolk – Sawyer to Launch New MBA Program

5/5/16 School will integrate practical components—like a travel seminar—into the MBA curriculum.

The Boston-based Suffolk University Sawyer Business School has announced that it will launch a new MBA program this fall. The new MBA will integrate practical components and will be tied to Boston’s local industries.

The practical components in the new program will include a semester-long operations management class, in which students will visit a local hospital to look at how an operations chain works in the real world. Additionally, students will also take part in a domestic or global travel seminar, where they will study real business problems faced by businesses.

Illinois Tech Teams up With Chicago Innovation Awards to Offer an MBA Focused on Innovation

5/4/16 A Chicago university and local innovation-focused organization are teaming up to train business students to navigate the city’s growing tech and startup scene.

Illinois Institute of Technology’s Stuart School of Business and the Chicago Innovation Awards announced a joint venture Wednesday: an accelerated MBA program that specifically gives students hands-on projects in the innovation community in Chicago. In addition, any MBA student that “demonstrates a continuing commitment to innovation in the Chicago region” is eligible for a $10,000 scholarship from the Chicago Innovation Awards.

“It ensures that some of the Chicago region’s brightest students will be directly and deeply engaged in Chicago’s vibrant innovation community, and it will sharply reduce the cost of the degree for each student who participates,” said Krishna Erramilli, associate dean and program director of the new program at Illinois Tech in a statement. “It is a solid step forward for the region and for its next generation of business leaders.”
