Purdue MBA Classes Move from Porter County to Westville Campus

5/6/16 The MBA program that is currently offered at the Purdue University North Central Porter County facility will begin meeting at the North Central campus in Westville, beginning June 4.

There are no plans to continue graduate and undergraduate classes at the Porter County facility. Students in the MBA program have been notified of the change, said Henry Williams, assistant professor of Organizational Leadership and interim department chair.

Williams explained that the idea to relocate the MBA classes was thoroughly discussed with students in the program.

“We received overwhelmingly positive support,” Williams said. “We have an increasing number of students from La Porte County and counties further east, as well as from southwest Michigan, so the program will be a bit closer to home for many of our students. Plus, students will have more access to resources such as the library and faculty offices at the North Central campus. With the unification with Purdue Calumet, we are extending the reach of our service area.”

Meredith MBA Adds Project Management Concentration

5/6/16 The demand for skilled project managers is expanding dramatically across the U.S. as well as in the Triangle area. To meet this growing need for project professionals, the Meredith MBA has a new option — a project management concentration.

“I am delighted the faculty have moved this proposal for a project management concentration forward and the institution will support it, as it fulfills a current gap in workforce needs and will help drive economic development in our region,” said Kristie Ogilvie, dean of Meredith’s School of Business.

The project management concentration complements the MBA’s core curriculum. By completing an MBA with a concentration in project management, Meredith MBA graduates will enhance their career and create opportunities for leadership and advancement.

Through the project management concentration, professionals will learn to define and plan projects; how to negotiate effectively and manage conflict; and how to identify and utilize key performance metrics that demonstrate a project’s success.
